Ching Ming Festival:Honour the sages

On April 8th, student representatives from School of Basic Medical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, School of Health Sciences, School of Stomatologypaid respects toProf. Zhu Yu-bi and Prof. Hsiang Chin-min at the Wuhan Long Quan Mountain.

First, we came to the tomb of Prof. Hsiang and his wife to present a bouquet andstood in silent tribute. Professor Hsiang devoted his life to viral research in China. He was one of the founders of the Chinese medical virology. His book "The Principle of Medical Virology" plays an important role and far-reaching influence in the field of medical education research. In his 87-year-old, he complete the masterpiece book “The Molecular Ecology” after putting forward the concept of molecular ecology the first time in the world. And after he passed away, his students and his family members have set up Chin-min Hsiang Education Foundation to reward 3-5 young scholars who made outstanding contributions in the field of medicine every year.

Then we arrived Prof. Zhu’s tomb to present a bouquet,swept his grave, stood in silent tributeandcherish the memory ofProf. Zhu. He didprecise research approaches, dedicated his life to medical education career, created and constructed Hubei Medical College where trained many excellent medical talents to develop and improve the motherland’s medical education aspect. As one surgeon and pathologist, he published many academic papers especially his pioneering study on angelica injection in the treatment of Lumbocrural pain. In 1981 Prof. Zhu wrote on paper on angelica injection efficacy for 10 years observation and this study got the attention and affirmation among the medical community. In honor of Prof. Zhu’ contributions on medical disciplines, the Award of Medicine by Zhu Yubi was established by his daughter Prof. Zhu Yi-xuan and his son-in-law Prof. andAcademician of Chinese Academy of SciencesLi De-ren to encourage medical students to be active, enterprising, innovative and explorative.

Left flowers and respect, we honor Prof. Zhu and Prof. Hsiang’ spirit of devotion and perseverance on medicine for ever.
