Research Description
My research investigate the expression of estrogen receptor in the heart of the rat. Specimens were obtained from SD rats and made into frozen sections. The sections were examined with SP immunohistochemistry technique and image analysis method. The result showed that the positive ER Immunoreactivity exited in cardiac myocytes and fibroblasts of female and male rat’s atria and ventricles. The expression of ER didn’t have sexual differences and no differences between the atria and ventricles were observed either. This result suggested that the atria and ventricles are the target tissues of estrogen. The sexual differences in the cardiovascular diseases aren’t related to the content of ER. It maybe involved in the state of activity and function of ER under the physiological conditions.
