Won Four First Prizes in the fifth National Competition of Innovation Forum and Experimental Design of Preclinical Medicine for Undergraduate Students

From 11th May to 13th May, the fifth National Competition of Innovation Forum and Experimental Design of Preclinical Medicine for Undergraduate Students was held in Central South University. Our representative teams achieved a good result in the competition – 4 projects won the first prize, and 2 projects won the second prize, the rank and the total numbers of the projects winning prizes are among the top, and it is a historic breakthrough for our college in this competition.


The National Competition of Innovation Forum and Experimental Design of Preclinical Medicine for Undergraduate Students is organized by National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, Education Branch for Pre-clinical Medicine of Higher Medical Education Society, Major and Teaching Steering Committee for Pre-clinical Medicine of Medical disciplines in Universities of Higher Learning every two years, whose aim is to strengthen students’ innovational experiment skills and foster students’ scientific research thoughts, promote reform for talent-training model, and provide a stage for students to show themselves. About one thousand representatives, 475 teams, from 113 universities and colleges from home and abroad took part in the competition, such as Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Wuhan University, Sun Yat-Sen Univerisity, Central South University, Huazhong University of Scie

nce and Technology. It is one of the most participating units and participating projects in all competitions.

From October last year, we started to prepare for the competition, strengthened advocation among students and teachers who have launched Innovation training programs. In March, more than 20 teams took part in the primary election, and 6 teams were selected. The process for preparing this competition was fulfilling, we invited representative teams who took part in previous competitions to share experience; what’s more, we arranged three pre-defenses. All teams worked together, discussed each PPT slide carefully, revised and improved the content from aspects of scientific meaning, logic as well as innovation. And we made a video for each pre-performance, examined each detail in aspects of expressions, appearance, tones, etc.


The competition was led by professor Chen Yun, vice dean of School of Basic Medical Sciences. During the competition, six students kept calm and carried on, stood out from 475 contestants, Long Long, Tao Jiang, Jie Wu and Yixuan Qin got the first prize, Zun Zhang and Lijun Dai got the second prize in the group matches.
